Kakamega senator Cleophas Malala has told Governor Oparanya to keep off the Kakamega Gubernatorial race.

The outspoken senator has confidently outlined that the outgoing Kakamega governor is secretly campaigning for Fernandez Barasa to replace him via an ODM ticket.

“Governor Oparanya has been here for ten years and this is the time for him to pack and leave. But I have heard that he wants to  bring the son of his mother’s sister (Barasa) from down there”, he said.

The senator was speaking at a rally in Shirere ward, Lurambi constituency on Friday afternoon.

“Oparanya thinks we are fools. He has ruled us for ten years and now wants to bring to us his sibling to rule us for another ten years. He is trying to tell us that Barasa has money but we can’t be elect a governor that we have never seen with our eyes”, he added.

Fernandez Barasa is the immediate former CEO of the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO).

Barasa who resigned recently has declared to run for the Gubernatorial race on an Azimio ticket.

Political pundits have opined that both governor Oparanya and his party leader Raila Odinga are backing Barasa’s bid.

However, senator Malala chewed bones with Barasa and claimed that he is too inexperienced to become governor.

“He was working with an Electricity parastatal called KETRACO but he allegedly looted ksh.734 billion and also stole electricity tokens”, Malala yelled.

Malala insisted that it is high time the next governor should hail from another region far from Oparanya’s home turf.

The Kakamega Gubernatorial showdown has taken center stage as the battle keeps escalating day in day out.

Besides Malala and Barasa, former senator Bonny Khalwale who is a DP Ruto’s lieutenant has also declared his bid via a UDA ticket.

Malala expressed confidence that in case he will be elected,he will invent tremendous development projects across the county.

He further dismissed claims by Murang’a woman representative Sabina Chege that the government could rig elections in favour of Raila’s Azimio coalition.

“No one has the capacity to rig elections and deny Kenyans their right to choose leaders of their choice from the Kenya Kwanza Alliance. The deep state story is a fictional creation by individuals who have sensed an early defeat on the ballot come August 9th this year”, he tweeted @cleophasmalala.

The senator who was accompanied by Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali alongside other leaders went further to inspect Amalemba grounds in the outskirts in of Kakamega town.

DP Ruto together with the Kenya Kwanza brigade are scheduled to address a mega rally in at the Amalemba grounds this Saturday .
