The Kenya National Qualifications Authority(KNQA) Director -General Dr Juma Mukhwana has revealed that he won’t vie for the senatorial seat in Bungoma County in the August polls.
In a statement to news rooms, Mukhwana said that he is so much preoccupied with the government assignment and won’t vie for a political seat this year.
“I have continued to get inquiries from my friends if I’m running for the Senate seat in Bungoma in 2022 and more specifically if I’m resigning as the DG of the KNQA,” he said.
Dr.Mukhwana added, “I’m sorry my friends. This year I’m not running for any political office. Let me continue transforming the education sector at the national level in Kenya. I thank you for your concern and love,”.
In 2017, Dr Mukhwana was a Jubilee senatorial aspirant and lost to the current Senator Moses Wetangula. He has also served as Deputy Commission Secretary at the Commission for University Education(CUE).
Dr Mukhwana is the past president of the African agricultural NGOs Network based in Ghana.
He is also a recipient of the Kenyan head of state commendation (HSC) for his role in assisting farmers to improve their food security and income.
He has dedicated much of his life and work to the plight of small scale farmers.Mukhwana is also the founder of the SACRED Africa.
Many key people in government are resigning to go for elective seats in the August polls.
