Kakamega senator Cleophas Malala has insisted that he’s the best candidate for be the Gubernatorial showdown.
Speaking at a function in Shina area, Isukha West, Shinyalu constituency on Saturday, Malala told off his critics and expressed confidence of clinching the seat.
“I have an NHIF package for all households in the county, a free lunch program for all our day school students in public secondary schools,” he said.
The Senator added, “I will award development funds for all wards, tenders and contracts to women and youth groups in an all inclusive approach of leadership during my reign as your next governor,”.
Malala who is an ardent lieutenant of ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi is serving his first term as senator.
“My pledge for the residents of Isukha is to serve you diligently as I strive to work cordially with all local leaders including former senator Bonny Khalwale,” he added.
His sentiments come amid allegations that efforts are underway to convince him to leave the Gubernatorial race for Khalwale and stick to senatorial duties.
Kakamega is among the dozens of counties expecting a new governor in the incoming August 9th polls.
This is because incumbent governor Wyliffe Oparanya is serving his second and last term as governor.
Senator Malala seems strongly determined with his Gubernatorial ambitions and has maintained that nothing will deter his moves.
He also lobbied for the Kenya Kwanza coalition as he visited the Vihiga Cultural Grounds for inspection ahead of the Kenya Kwanza’s rally scheduled for the venue for February 6th.
The vocal senator was flanked by Vihiga woman representative Beatrice Adagala among other Kenya Moja loyalists.
“The leaders of Jubilee and NASA joined hands in a handshake and the whole world was happy. Similarly, their deputies Musalia Mudavadi and William Ruto have come together to push the country forward. Why is there so much fuss about it?,” he explained.
Malala was also unanimously endorsed by delegates as ANC county chairperson to replace Lurambi Mp Titus Khamala.
The Kakamega Gubernatorial race is definitely going to be a battle of Titans and only the strongest force will endure the throne.
Besides Malala and Khalwale, former KETRACO CEO Fernandez Barasa has also declared interest on an Azimio la Umoja ticket.
