Bungoma County Roads Executive Dismises Links With DP Ruto’s Led UDA Party


Bungoma County roads executive member Collins Mukhongo has denied any political friendship with DP William Ruto’s led UDA party.

Mukhongo also dismissed reports that he had joined UDA party explaining that he firmly supports Raila Odinga’s led Azimio la Umoja.

“The DP is my friend, he called me to go and visit him, I accompanied the deputy governor Charles Ngome, I later was shocked with the photos that appeared on social media, I never anticipated photos to be taken,”.

He stated that he supports Azimio la Umoja and won’t betray Wangamati, can’t work with somebody who supports their rival senate speaker Ken Lusaka.

He further stated that he had withdrawn from Kanduyi constituency parliamentary race.

Mukhongo had been touted as the front runner to dislodge the incumbent Wafula Wamunyinyi who is also the DAP-K party leader.

Speaking an interview on a local radio station on Tuesday, Mukhongo stated that he had consulted widely a reason that led him to shelve his ambition.

Mukhongo revealed that he will vie for Bungoma gubernatorial seat in 2027 after the exit of Wangamati.

He further noted that he will be campaigning for Bungoma governor Wycliffe Wangamati reelection bid in an election slated for August.

“I will disappoint my supporters that am not vying for a parliamentary seat this year because I will be working towards  the reelection of Wangamati for the second time,” he said.

He added, “If i vie this year my campaigns will slow down Wangamati’s development momentum which might turn out to be a big blow for his reelection bid,”.

Mukhongo revealed that Wangamati is a development conscious leader and asked voters to reconsider electing him again.

“Wangamati has constructed roads, health facilities, stadium and milk cool plants and awarded scholarship to over 4,000 pupils,” he said.

Others who have announced their intention to vie for the parliamentary seat include former Mp Alfred Khang’ati, Wafula Wambanda, Mulunda Khaoya, Rodgers Siboe, Wafula Wakoli among others.
