The County Government of Busia has reiterated its commitment towards addressing issues affecting the health sector for the benefit of residents, Chief Officer Health and Sanitation, Dr Isaac Omeri has said.
Speaking at the Busia County Referral Hospital (BCRH), Omeri said they have taken seriously concerns raised by a section of Busia residents on issue of drugs, water, power supply and food, adding that efforts have been made to ensure they are addressed.
“We have heard issues raised. We don’t have any intention of making people to lose their lives when seeking medical services in our health facilities. Our agenda is to ensure that locals get quality services,” he said.
He added that, “We have paid Sh2.3 million to Kenya Power to restore power at BCRH besides looking into the issue of food.”
On the issue of drugs, Omeri said a requisition has been made to KEMSA to ensure health facilities get drugs.
Dr Omeri who is in charge of medical services, revealed that several health facilities have been upgraded, with more health workers including doctors and nurses recruited.
“We have very qualified health personnel among them Cuban doctors who understand their responsibilities. Let us give them the opportunity to discharge their duties.”
