Onyango, Muyoti In Uganda Bound Ex-Kenya Internationals Squad

Benard Onyango and Nicholas Muyoti from Busia County are among 25 former Harambee Stars players selected to make Kenyan squad to play former Uganda football legends in two international friendlies.

Kenya legends who leave by road today will play their first match in Kampala on Wednesday before a repeat match in Arua on Friendly.

Apart from striker Onyango and midfielder Muyoti, Western region has two more players in the squad. The are striker Anthony Okumu and midfielder, Ramadhan Balala.

Others making the trip include goalkeepers: Omar Shaban and Duncan Ochieng. Defenders: Josephat Murila, Musa Otieno, George Sunguti, Julius Owino, Vincent Otieno, Noah Abich, Francis Oduor, Zadock Shaban and Reginald Asibwa.

Midfielders include Alfred Ochieng, Edward Karanja, Jeff Oyando, Oscar Kadenge and Abdallah Mohamed. Strikers are Peter Dawo and William Oloo.

Onyango, who is also the Football Kenya Federation Busia Branch Treasurer said he was happy to be included in legends squad to Uganda to feature in the two international friendlies.

” It was not easy to be among 25 players selected after trials from over 400 former internationals who range between 30 and 70 years. This calls for discpline in terms of what you eat, drink, family life, and dedication as a player,” he said.

Onyango who holds CAF B coaching certificate started his football career at Busende Primary , Nang’oma and Mundika Secondary which he guided to the national finals.

He added: ” The aim of the two frienlies is to bring the Ex-internationals together and have unity and direction of football in the country.

Onyango played for Kapenguria Boys, U-17 and U-20 national teams, Scarlet, Mumias Sugar, Eldoret KCC, AP Embakasi and Sony Sugar which he helped clinch the Kenya Premier League title in 2006.He was also team manager of AFC Leopards.
