Youngest Ward Administrator Recruited In Busia

By Reuben Olita

Busia Governor, H.E Sospeter Ojaamong’s administration has recruited perhaps the youngest Ward Administrator in the Country.

Joel Ekirapa, 25, beat four other applicants for the vacant Malaba North Ward post that was left vacant after the incumbent, Annet Idewa moved to Malaba Central following the elevation of Zipporah Amoit Odikor to Sub County Administrator.

Busia County has its administrative structure in place with recruitment of Sub County, Ward and Village Administrators. The assembly has already passed the Village Administration Bill that paves way for establishment of Village Councils.

“I am a happy young man of Busia County right now. I’m perhaps the youngest Ward Administrator ready to serve the residents of Busia County. I thank God, the Governor and the entire recruitment staff for offering me that golden opportunity to serve for the next 35 years as a civil servant,” he said.

He added: ” I have always admired to serve humanity and that is why I went to Kenyatta University to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology, Gender and Development where I scored a second class Honours Upper Division.”

He went on: ” I’ve always had one philosophy of discharging my mandate: to do the right thing at the right time in the right manner.

He faulted those who claim H.E Ojaamong’s does not value the welfare of the youth as a figment of their imaginations, saying the employees recently employed by the County government account for over 90 per cent which is no mean achievement.
