The Busia Department of Health and Sanitation has underscored the need for residents to continue observing Coronavirus (Covid-19) regulations to curb the spread of the disease.

Chief Officer Public Health, Jonathan Ino said locals should take the responsibility of protecting themselves by ensuring that they adhere to the Ministry of Health (MoH) guidelines which are important in terms of prevention.

“Covid-19 is still with us bearing in mind that a new variant Omicron has been detected in other countries including South Africa. We urge residents especially those targeted for vaccination to come out in large numbers to be inoculated,” he said.

He revealed that the County Government has received 6,000 additional doses of Covid-19 to ensure locals access the vaccine in various designated health facilities across the County as well as through the outreaches being conducted.

“We have already given a directive that all our vaccination facilities among them Dispensaries and Health Centres to fully integrate covid-19 vaccine to be a routine like other vaccines for the benefit of residents.”
