Bungoma County has recorded the highest number of people vaccinated against coronavirus.
Area health executive Dr.Antony Walela says records from health facilities shows that the county has vaccinated 90,000 people since the government started the exercise.
He encouraged the unvaccinated individuals to go for the jab so that their body system can be in good position to resist the attack.
“We are happy as a county that our people have embraced the government directive and they are actively participating in the exercise with coarcion,” he said.
Dr.Walela revealed that majority people are turning up daily to be vaccinated so that their body system can be immune against Covid-19.
“Since the inception of Coronavirus vaccination statistics have shown that Bungoma county leads in Western region with others trailing them in terms of the high number of vaccinated individuals,” he said.
Walela revealed that Bungoma county has 62 vaccination centres in every ward and they are currently receiving 3,000 daily but targeting the number to rise to 10,000 daily.
“Over 700,000 people out of the estimated 830,000 adults in the county are yet to be vaccinated and we are calling upon them to turn up in large numbers to receive the jab,” he said.
Walela added, “Coronavirus is an infectious disease and am asking people to get vaccinated against it so that their body system can be very strong against the global pandemic,”.
He pointed out that the county has received enough jabs and it is the residents who should come out and be vaccinated.
He called on area residents to avoid the last minute rush to get vaccinated as a majority will miss out.
Health cabinet secretary Mutahi Kagwe warned Kenyans who are yet to be vaccinated that they risk missing out being served in public places.
