Amani National Congress party leader Musalia Mudavadi has cautioned other Okoa Kenya Alliance leaders against zoning regions.

Mudavadi stated that he was still observing how issues are unfolding in OKA coalition especially on zoning because they are yet to sign any agreement.

“The zoning issue isn’t good for party democracy, am keenly observing how things are taking shape in OKA coalition we need to have a clear direction, things are turning out to be tough yet we haven’t signed any agreement so far,” said Mudavadi.

Speaking on Friday while opening the Bungoma County ANC office in Kanduyi, the former DP asked for cooperation from OKA leaders.

This follows complaints from ANC party officials and aspirants that they were being forced by some disgruntled Ford Kenya party officials that Bungoma County is its region.

“There will be no zoning of regions based on the party popularity, let all parties field candidates without discrimination, parties need to grow without being restricted to regions,” he said.

He added, “Ford Kenya should be allowed to field its candidates in Vihiga, Kakamega, Bungoma, Busia and Trans Nzoia without any restriction, let ANC also do the same in those areas, no need of zoning because we all want to popularize our parties,”.

Mudavadi stated that zoning will hurt parties adding that giving them a space to field candidates anywhere in the country will give room to many candidates to vie on their parties.

He stated that Jubilee is the biggest party despite the wrangles facing it, followed by ODM, Wiper and ANC which is the fourth one.

“ANC is the fourth most popular party in the country and we don’t want to lose out because of zoning, let us be allowed free space to field candidates everywhere,” he said.

Mudavadi also assured ANC aspirants that the party primaries will all be free and fair and no one will be favoured.

“We will get popular candidates through a tough process and be sure that they will win in the next election, therefore lay your strategies well for you to bag the party ticket for any seat,” he assured them.

He said the party is investing a lot in the election board to ensure there is fair and free nominations.
