Supporters allied to two contestants for constituency chairmanship fought each other over who should lead them.

The meeting was meant to harmonize the list of party officials from the eight wards which was postponed indefinitely after chaos broke out.

The grassroot meeting was led by ODM County chairman Ali Balala but it failed to bore any fruit as the two factions clashed.

The chaotic meeting so a faction allied to Kanduyi constituency chairman who is also the Bungoma township ward MCA Joseph Maguda fight with those of his bitter rival Raphael Wanyama.

The meeting convened by the National election board had given Balala the mandate to oversee it.

Maguda blamed Balala for trying to force some members into the party through the back door.

“He was forcing a certain list into the members, we hadn’t agreed yet, this is what brought the borne of contention,” he said.

Raphael Wanyama the elected chairman contested by Maguda stated that the party primaries were held on October 25, and the results were well received at the party headquarters.

“There was nothing like elections today, we were just harmonizing the list but our friends started causing chaos which rocked the function,” said Wanyama.

Balala said that he had received instructions from the deputy party leader Wycliffe Oparanya and the national election Board chairperson to carry on with the exercise in Kanduyi.

“It is unfortunate the process did not proceed after two factions differed, their supporters caused chaos hence stopping the whole exercise, the head office will intervene to save the face of the party,” he said.
