Kenya Association of Chiefs in the Country has described Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong as intelligent, perceptive, forthright and down to earth leader.
Speaking during farewell ceremony for Okatekok Sub Location Assistant Chief, Margaret Osia who has attained retirement age, the Chief’s national Chairman, Walter Obuchele said Busia Chiefs are happy working with the Governor.
” You are undoubtedly a generous man, you are a nationalist whose leadership skills are worth emulating by other leaders who cherish peace and tranquillity in the country,” he said.
Obuchele added, ” We shall always seek your guidance and advice on various matters including socio-economic and political dispensation in the country. Your decades of political experience cannot be wished away.”
The Governor said the provincial administration used to fear interacting with him because he was in the opposition, adding that with the handshake bringing President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister, Rt Hon Raila Odinga together, all chiefs and assistant chiefs are now his friends.
He said the County Government will make a contribution to boost the Chiefs Cooperative Society to promote the welfare of the members.
He lauded the retired assistant chief for her service to the community which helped shaped the destiny of the people she served through her no-nonsense style of leadership and coordinating national and county government activities including security, roads, buildings and schools.
H.E Ojaamong urged the administrators to enforce the government directive to have all children go to school to realize 100 per cent transition. He also stated that there is also need for counselling to reduce cases of killings that is raring an ugly head in families.
Retired Chief Margaret Osia said she has retired but not tired, promising to offer invaluable services where necessary.
The retired Assistant Chief is sister in law to Busia Agriculture Executive, Dr Moses Osia.
