Busia County Government Disaster Management and Security and Enforcement staff underwent fire drills in the ongoing Occupational First Aid and Fire Marshall training that comes to an end tomorrow at the Busia County Stadium.
The officers were taken through drills to ascertain their quick response during fire outbreaks and how effectively they can know which fire extinguisher is needed for specific classes of fire.
Day five saw the staff benefit from a comprehensive disaster response skills from best trainers from Kenya Red Cross, Busia Branch.
This is in preparation for eventualities that are likely to occur within the County. The six-day
training is fully funded by Save Our Souls (SoS) Kenya, Busia Office.
Kenya Red Cross Busia County Coordinator, Patrick Lwango thanked SoS Kenya for this kind of partnership and assured County office that they are together in disaster preparedness and mitigation.
He added that: “We are all looking forward for an emergency drill on saturday and similation. The similations and the emergency drill will be intense and I encourage you to be strong and focus on matters response.”
Chief Officer in the Office of the Governor in charge of Disaster Management and Security and Enforcement, Ezekiel Okwach opened the training last Monday.
