Lapfund and Laptrust in collaboration with the County Government of Busia department of Public Service and Administration (PSA) has conducted pre-retirement training.
One hundred and twenty (120) county employees drawn from all department who are due to retire by 2022 were earmarked for this training .
The exercise which was aimed at equipping the retirees with knowledge on life after retirement in terms of understanding pension ; withdrawal procedures and access to pension benefits, members rights and responsibilities , psychological issues in retirement, stress management and financial planning & management.
The training that took place at Rastopack Hotel was fully sponsored by Lapfund and Laptrust .
Lapfund Regional Manager, Mr George Ochieng acknowledged that the cooperation they are receiving from Busia County employees is examplary .
The training was officially opened by County Executive Member, Mr John Mwami.
Mr Mwami appreciated members for their contribution to Busia County . “You will be missed from the county because of your experience and expertise ” he added .
He specifically took his gratitude to agricultural officers for the success stories in cage fish farming. “What an old man can see is beyond what young people see,” he said .
He called on members to accept retirement changes and adjust.
Chief Officer, PSA Clementina Omoto congratulated all the retirees for having worked until retirement.
” My special gratitude goes to you who have served Busia citizens whole heartedly in their respective area of jurisdiction,” she ssid
The Chief Officer advised retirees to ensure they use their benefits well .
Others present were Director PSA, Daniel Omuse , Payroll Manager, Mr Silvester Adiye and other staff from PSA .
