A Bungoma based businessman Polycarp Wandabusi has come to the rescue of a student set to join Maseno University.
Kevin Wanjala (18) from Nairumbi village in West Nalondo ward, Kabuchai constituency in Bungoma County risked missing join his University of choice due to the biting poverty.
Wanjala scored B- of 59 points at Teremi High School in the same constituency in last year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
Speaking after receiving financial aid from the businessman, his mother Bridgid Nasimiyu was full of appreciation adding that she never expected such philanthropic move him.
She thanked Wandabusi for paying her son’s first year University fees.
Nasimiyu could not hide his joy after receiving the financial school fees aid from Mr.Wandabusi.
“He was supposed to report to the University on September 20 but due to the biting poverty, we could only afford Sh10,000 for transport and other basics but lacked fees,” she said.
Nasimiyu noted that the businessman was God send and came at the right time when they much needed the financial aid.
Amos Wanjala, a relative to the beneficiary lauded Wandabusi for helping their son to join the higher learning institution.
He called on him to study hard and be very disciplined so that he can help the community in future.
Wandabusi stated that he supports education and would always stand with those unprivileged students who need financial aid.
“Am privileged and will always stand with my people in any way possible, the little God has provided me with,I will use it to support others,” he said.
