Increase In Covid-19, Accidents Annoys Busia Governor

Busia Governor, H.E Sospeter Ojaamong has decried the rate of Covid-19 surge in Busia County and road accidents along the Northern Corridor in Malaba.

The Governor had gone to condole with families of the late Mama Gladys Mutembei Mbochi Itela at Sidelewa Village, Mzee Henry Obali,93, at Amukura Junction and Dismas Ikomol Otiti at Kidera, in Teso South Sub County.

At Sidelewa, the Governor said the latest Covid variant had taken the country by storm, thus the need to observe the World Health Organization and Ministry of Health guidelines which entails wearing of face masks at public places at all times, washing hands with running water and soap and observing social distance in all public places.

The Governor said most health institutions in the country are overwhelmed due to increasing cases of the pandemic, cautioning county residents to be wary of the disease.

At Kidera, H.E Ojaamong said over 15 people including the late Dismas have perished along the Northern Corridor in less than a week, cautioning drivers and pedestrians to observe traffic rules to the letter.

” Traffic police should ensure sanity returns on our roads to curb rising cases which is taking heavy toll on our population,” he said.

The Governor also revealed that Kenya Rural Roads Authority had undertaken rehabilitation of Kotur-Kocholia road and repair of the bridge.
