The Busia County Assembly today approved the names of five nominees appointed by Busia Governor, H.E Sospeter Ojaamong for the selection panel to recruit members of the County Public Service Board (CPSB).
Career civil servant, Mr Ben Akwara who is representing non public officers will chair the panel that includes Justice (Emeritus) Mathew Anyara Emukule represnting the Law Society of Kenya.
Others are Alexander Oyiolo Odongo representing private sector, Grace Apadeet (Association of Workers) and Roselyne Lumbasi (Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya).
The Committee on Appointments chaired by Speaker, Bernard Wamalwa found the five nominees suitable for the positions of being members of the selection panel, having met requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution on leadership and integrity.
The committee Vice Chairman and Deputy Speaker, Hon. Lawrence Okaale who kick started the debate thanked the Governor for appointing people with integrity to serve in the panel, exuding confidence they will deliver on their mandate.
“I have faith the panel will appoint CPSB commissioners who will undertake staff recruitment with regional balance in mind and to include youth and people living with disability,” he said.
Those who made their contributions including Hon Novena Ndaliro, Nancy Okademi, Felix Omanyi and Julius Ochou told the nominees to live up to their expectations.
The committee said nominees have wealth of relevant academic and professional qualifications, experience and knowledge, and above all they demonstrate good understanding of the tasks ahead of them.
The Speaker, Hon Wamalwa told the Clerk, Allan Mabuka to notify the County Secretary, Nicodemus Mulaku with immediate effect on the decision of Assembly.
The panel will interview candidates who will seek to replace Vice Chairman Lawrence Akijakin, Commissioner Patrick Afwande and CEO/Secretary Charles Orodi who retired.
