Police in Bungoma have arrested and are interrogating a suspect believed to be the main architect of the murder of a journalist.

Confirming the arrest, Benjamin Kimwele, Bungoma South Police Station OCPD revealed that at the moment his officers are interrogating the suspect who they are treating as the main mastermind in the death incident.

The body of a photojournalist cum local musician Peter Oteng alias Storm DwarChild was found with deep panga cuts on Friday night at Sunrise Estate in the outskirts of Bungoma town.

Before his untimely death, Storm was working as a communication officer for Kanduyi Mp Wafula Wamunyinyi.

The police boss revealed that they had been granded more time by the court to hold the suspect in the police cells as they carry on with their interrogations and investigations.

“We are also set to examine his phone to establish if it was used during the murder of the deceased,” said Kimwele.

He disclosed that the suspect is the one who was paid transport cash via Mpesa by Wamunyinyi’s personal assistant to ferry the deceased home on Friday night at about 10pm.

The reason behind the brutal murder of the scribe is yet to be established but DCI officers are piecing together evidence that will help unravel the puzzle.

Storm’s body was found with deep panga cuts on the head and the hand and reports indicate that he might have struggled with his killers before they eventually overpowered him.

Previously Oteng also worked with Kimilili Mp Didmus Barasa in the same capacity.

The deceased who has his roots in Uganda had produced songs such as Brikicho, Covid-19, Hustle, landlord, Bintu Bichenjanga among others which had received massive airplay in Kenyan radios and TV stations.

Bungoma County Commissioner Samuel Kimiti said that no stone will be left unturned until Storm’s Killers are brought to book.
