Former ODM Official Mourns The Death Of His Mother

“My mother, Joyce Cherop,  just died. 5.25 AM. A casualty of, perhaps, the real 1st World War. No words,” wrote Buke.

A former Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Director of Political Affairs and strategy Robert Wafula Buke has lost his mother.

In a Facebook post on Monday morning, Buke who is currently a Bungoma based businessman mourned the passing on of his mother.

The former University student leader and who was incarcerated for opposing the late President Daniel Moi’s style of leadership says he lost his mother to unknown disease.

“My mother, Joyce Cherop,  just died. 5.25 AM. A casualty of, perhaps, the real 1st World War. No words,” wrote Buke.


In a past post Buke stated that his mother had been suffering for long without any signs of healing.”My mother, Cherop. 6 days on oxygen, now transfered to HDU. Can’t sleep. Just informing those she may have cooked for and related with through her many people. Tough times indeed,” he said.

Buke resides from Chepkube in Mt Elgon constituency and has been very instrumental in the political world especially in the growth of ODM.

He was sent packing by the party in 2019 and blamed the current ODM General Secretary Edwin Sifuna and Magerer Langat for his word.

The death of Buke’s occurs at the same time when Bungoma County is morning the death of Fr.Christopher Wanyonyi.

The popular priest who was in charge of Christ the King Cathedral in Bungoma town succumbed to Covid-19 in one of the Eldoret’s hospital on Saturday night.

Fr. Wanyonyi was very instrumental in the construction of Christ the King Cathedral, the biggest Church in Western region.

He has been in and out of hospital after allegedly contracting the deadly global pandemic Covid-19.
