Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati and Kanduyi Mp Wafula Wamunyinyi have called for the arrest and arraignment of Peter Oteng’s Killers.
Addressing the press after meeting Bungoma County Commissioner Samuel Kimiti, the duo said that the killings are likely associated with politics.
“We want the Killers of Peter Oteng alias Storm a Bungoma based Journalist Cum Musician arrested, they did a heinous act by hacking him to death,” said Wangamati.
Storm was murdered on Friday night at Sunrise Estate in the outskirts of Bungoma town as he was returning home after the day’s assignment.
During the incident, his camera and a mobile phone were stolen by unknown assailants.
Currently, officers from the directorate of criminal investigations department are on the scene trying to piece together evidence that will nail down the Killers.
“He was an active young man who wasn’t controversial at all, he only dealt with his work and never engaged the public,” he said.
Wangamati asked the county commissioner to get the details and get to the bottom of the matter.
“I want a thorough investigation done, Storm died a very painful death and his family should get Justice,” he said.
He conveyed his message of condolences to the family and revealed that as leaders they will stand together and support the family during this trying moment.
“Let me hope that there should be no any link between politics in Ford Kenya party and his death, it would be very bad,” he said.
Wamunyinyi stated that he worked together with the deceased who was his communication officer up to 10pm on Friday where he took a boda boda home but was later found dead.
“Storm was very instrumental in running my communication team and this is a deliberate and well planned murder, somebody might have tracked and killed him,” lamented Wamunyinyi.
He revealed that there have been threats all over since the FK coup and a number of people allied to our team have been threatened.
“We have shared all the information with the security team and want the killings investigated, there must be a resurgence of the infamous Kabuchai Defence Force who use local weapons,” he said.
He called for those responsible for the killings to be brought to book.
He also send the message of condolences to the family and promised to stand with it.
County Commissioner Samuel Kimiti stated that CID officers are on the site carrying out the investigations to get the leads.
“I am very sorry for the death but i assure area residents that the killings will investigated thoroughly to nab the killers,” he said.
He warned the youths to value the lives of others, it is only God that gives and has the mandate to take it. Not fellow human beings.
“Human beings are turning into animals and killing others, those people will be arrested soon, no table will be left unturned,” he said.
He warned boda boda operators against being used to cause insecurity.
“The few rotten elements should be kicked out to save the transport industry,” said Kimiti.
