Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya has suspended Nzoia Sugar Company Managing Director CPA Michael Wanjala Makokha over alleged corruption issues.

A trusted source states that Makokha was suspended on Monday evening after sugar cane farmers staged a demonstration at the firm demanding for their payment.

The state firm boss has been send parking for three months pending investigations into serious corruption allegation during his three year’s stint as the CEO at Nzoia Sugar.

Makokha is allegedly to have amassed wealth within the shortest time possible, engaged in corruption related matters and failed to pay contracted farmersThis follows a petition to the CS by the farmers activist Jack Munialo.

The CS has appointed somebody from the ministry to take charge of the firm in an acting capacity.

Last week, Munya met with Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya, Jack Munialo, Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa and Kanduyi Mp Wafula Wamunyinyi where they agreed that Mr. Makokha wasn’t fit for the job and should be suspended immediately as investigations commence.

Efforts to get a comment from Mr.Makokha were futile as he didn’t pick calls not responded to messages send to his mobile phone by the time of publishing this story.

  1. we shall keep fighting top nzoia sugar management and end up nowhere. We have no single political Leader able to solve nzoia sugar problem unless otherwise one be born tomorrow.
    Farmers be focused to help our now dying elephant to come up. Forget all about handouts from vote seekers that they bring up the company.
