297 Pupils At St.Anthony School For The Deaf In Webuye Get Uniforms Courtesy Of Joyce Nasambu Foundation


It was a day full of joy has 297 learners with special needs in Webuye town benefited from free school uniforms.

Pupils of St.Anthony Special School For The Deaf got free uniforms courtesy Of Joyce Nasambu Foundation.

In total over 800 Special School Pupils will get free Uniforms Courtesy of the Foundation.

Speaking during the event, Nasambu called on blessed people to turn out in large numbers and help physically and mentally challenged students.

“Let the government increase fee capitation for students living with disability to enable them stay in schools, this is the only way they can be helped,” she said.

She urged parents that they should not feel stigmatized by children with disability but enrol them in special schools.All physically and mentally challenged pupils in special schools across Bungoma County are set to get free uniforms.

Joyce Nasambu is the incumbent Miss Tourism Bungoma Ambassador and has been on the forefront helping physically and mentally challenged pupils as well as a teenage girls ambassador.

“My foundation will provide uniforms to all physically and mentally challenged pupils across the county so that they also enjoy equal education opportunities like their normal counterparts,” she said.

Nasambu also said that disability is not inability and called on all education stakeholders should come out pull their resources together to help them realize their education goals.

“If we’ll supported, physically challenged have proved that they are enabled differently and have performed excellently in the national examinations,” she insisted.

Nasambu is seriously involved in education sensitization program across the county. 

She added, “The next school will be St Theresa school of the physically and mentally challenged in Webuye East where all learners will benefit from free uniforms,”.

The third one to benefit will Joy valley Libolina school of the physically challenged in Bumula constituency.

“There are also schools which have a special unit they will get uniforms like Webuye SA with 64 students, Webuye ACK with 25 students, Lugulu mixed day school with 15 students, Nzoia Pefa with 24 students among others,” said Nasambu.

School head teacher Geoffrey Khakina lauded Miss Tourism Bungoma for the uniforms donation.

“We are very greatful for the donation, it will go along way in making them stay in school and reducing stigma associated with putting on torn uniforms,” he said.

Andrew Ngeywa the personal assistant to Webuye West Mp Dan Wanyama said that the less privileged students should be supported for them to realize their goals.

“Let us support Joyce Nasambu Foundation, support her course in helping mentally and physically challenged children realize their goals in future,” he said.
