Football Kenya Federation President Nick Mwendwa has sent his condolences to Busia soccer fraternity following the death of Division Two referee Douglas Okware Okiro.
In a message of condolence delivered by FKF NEC Women representative, Margaret Omondi during the burial service for the fallen whistler at Okuleu village in Teso North Sub County, the President said Okiro checkered career has been dented by the cruel hand of death.
“I join the family, friends and relatives of the fallen referees in giving this hero a befitting sendoff, ” he said, calling on the soccer fraternity to bear with the loss.
Omondi delivered a similar message from NEC Member Bishop Tony Kweya who described the late Okiro as disciplined referee who had a bright future.
Busia Governor H.E Sospeter Ojaamong had earlier sent his condolence message to the family, relatives and friends of the deceased through FKF Busia Branch Secretary Reuben Olita.
FKF Branch chairman Hillary Musundi said the near resumption of the league as per the President’s live address is good news for soccer fraternity in the county.
