Sorrow has engulfed Namikelo village in Kibabii location, Kanduyi constituency, Bungoma County, after a dead body of a woman was found on Sunday morning.
The body of unidentified woman which was identified by a boda boda rider had deep wounds.
Joseck Wafula, told Horizon News that it looks like the woman was raped, killed somewhere and the body dumped in a thicket near the Bungoma-Chwele highway.
“There was no struggling here, it seems she was raped, strangled and stabbed several times before the body was dumped here, we only woke up to a ride shock after finding it here,” said Wafula.
He added, “The semi nude body was swollen and the available clothes showed the extent she had struggled with her unknown assailants,”.
He pointed out that cases of insecurity has increased in Kibabii with thugs breaking into the houses and stealing electronic appliances and other household items.
Curious onlookers milled the scene while talking in low tones and blaming the killers for going that far.
Alice Namasaka stated, “Why should they rape then kill her, this must be somebody’s wife, a mother to young children, this is immoral, let the killers not enjoy a peaceful life,”.
She called on security agencies to contain insecurity in the area and ensure that the culprits are brought to book.
By the time of publishing this story, police officers from Bungoma South police station had arrived to pick the body and moved to the Bungoma County Referral Hospital mortuary.
Cases of violence against women are on the rise in Bungoma county with a number of organization coming out strongly to condemn the vice.
