Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has been granted a bond of Sh2.5 million after being charged with several counts of robbery with violence, assault and causing electoral violence during the Matungu by elections.
They were accused of robbing Maureen Naliaka a power bank valued at Sh8, 000 at Munami primary polling centre.
Malala was charged alongside seven members of his staff namely Joel Micha, Ababu Shago, Shakila Ambaye, Marvin Kombo, Joyce Kavere, Hakim Juma Ambani and Cecil Ambeyi but pleaded not guilty to the five counts.
They were accused of robbing Maureen Naliaka a power bank valued at Sh8, 000 at Munami primary polling centre.
Kakamega Senior Principal Magistrate Dolphina Alego granted the accused persons a bond of Sh0.5million each with the same surety.
Micha, a bodyguard attached to Malala who was also charged separately over unlawful use of his firearm pleaded not guilty to the offence and was granted a bond of Sh200, 000.
His case will be mentioned on March 25 and hearing is on June 23, this year.
Malala and his staff were also charged of violently robbing Nabii Nabwera (ODM) Sh100,000 and causing bodily harm to him as well as damaging tyres of two motor vehicles of Cleophas Shimanyula alias ‘Toto’ valued at Sh60, 000.
The Senior Principal Magistrate gave them a Sh2million each totaling with the same surety.
