Walk Over in Bungoma Kuppet Polls as Officials Retain Their Seats

Kenya Union of post primary education teachers (Kuppet) elections in Bungoma county wasn’t full of activities as majority bigwigs were unopposed.

County Executive Secretary Augustine Luketelo,  Secretary Gender Cleah Wanjala, Treasurer Rebecca Masibayi and Vice Chairman David Sichei won unopposed.
Other non-contestable seats included Secretary Treasury which was taken over by Bakari Juma Wasilwa, Denis Walela is the Organizing Secretary Lilian Cheshari the Assistant Treasurer while Pius Wanjala Simiyu is the assistant executive secretary.

In the elections held at Bungoma Red Cross hall on Saturday and which was peaceful, voters voted in only the County Union Chairman and the Secretary Secondary.
The contest for the Chairmanship attracted two candidates including the incumbent David Barasa who won with a landslide garnering 921 votes against his closest bitter rival Godwin Munyasia who got 565 votes.

The position for Secretary Secondary attracted three contestants which included the incumbent Arnold Nyongesa, the only woman Faith Wafula and Bugun Masudi.
Nyongesa who is the incumbent won with a landslide garnering 982 votes, his closest opponent Madam Wafula got 431 while Masudi from Mt.Elgon got a paltry 79 votes.
The voting was overseen by Kuppet national office led by its treasurer Mr.Ronald Tonui who is also the Mp Bomet Central in Rift Valley and the Bungoma South labour officer a Mr.Kirui.

The elated Barasa thanked teachers for trusting in him and reflecting him back into the office.
“Am very happy, it as been a tough journey but I finally made it, thanks to my members who trusted in my leadership and more so my family for standing with me,” he said.
Secretary secondary Arnold Nyongesa was the happiest man after emerging the winner.
He was defending his seat despite falling out with other office bearers after he had earlier on announced to take his county executive secretary head on in the just completed polls.

“It has been tough for me and my members, we finally made it, if you trust in the Lord, everything just succeeds, an very much happy, thanks to all members who reelected me back,” he said.
