The untimely death of Garissa Senator and chairman of the Building Bridges Initiative Taskforce, Mohammed Yusuf Haji, is a big blow to his family and the country at large.
The late Senator was a peacemaker and a long time administrator who served in many areas including the vast Rift Valley during Mzee Jomo Kenyatta and Daniel Arap Moi eras.
I was in the same parliament with the late Haji between 2002 and 2012 where he rose to become the Minister for Defence between 2008-2013. During that tenure, he initiated the deployment of KDF forces to Somalia.
