The Deputy President William Ruto’s candidate on United democratic alliance (UDA) in Kabuchai Constituency by-elections claims opponents supported by the ‘Deep state’ plan to use violence in the forth coming elections.
Addressing the press in Khachonge Evans Kaka claimed that he had gathered intelligence that some (politicians held a meeting in Kitale where they sealed a deal to cause violence).
“We are aware that some senior politicians from this region held a secret meeting where they discussed how to use youths to cause violence on us,” he said .
Kakai said that the politicians having sensed that the hustler candidate is poised to win they had resorted into planning violence as witnessed during the Kibra by elections .
“We want a peaceful elections where people of Kabuchai will be given chance to elect the most popular person,we want an election which is issue based and not violence, ” he said.
He said the plan included planting rowdy youths in every market centers to attack perceived opponents and ensure that they don’t campaign.
He called on youths in the area to resist being lured into violence saying they should elect a leader who has a vision of helping them
This comes at a time when Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) called on Kabuchai constituency by-election candidates to embrace peaceful campaigns and shun violence.
Addressing candidates at Kabuchai CDF offices in Musese on Wednesday, Isusa said that it was imperative for all of them to embrace peace during campaigns.
“All candidates must embrace peace during this electioneering period, they should have a campaign schedule that won’t clash with one of their rivals,” said Isusa.
He added, “I called all of them here so that we could agree on the campaign mode, we want to see a peaceful campaign that is devoid of violence, politics will come and go but you will remain the residents of this county,”.
The Kabuchai by-election will be held on March 4, 2021 while campaigns will officially kick off on January 18, 2021.
The by-election was occasioned by the death of the area Mp the late James Lusweti who was buried on December 19, 2020.
Other candidates include David Kibiti of United Green Movement, Amos Wekesa of Federal party of Kenya and an Independent candidate Peter Kapanga.
