Bungoma governor Wycliffe Wangamati was humiliated in public when he was heckled and forced to cut short his speech.
While addressing mourners during the burial of Kabuchai Mp at Sanandiki primary school, Wangamati was taunted when he tried to respond to the speech raised by Kakamega senator Cleophas Malala.
Malala had accused Wangamati and Kanduyi Mp Wafula Wamunyinyi for attacking him during a church fundraiser at Christ the King Catholic Church in Bungoma town.
While trying to respond to Malala, Wangamati said that he hadn’t plan anything against the senator.
“There is nothing planned against you, this is a peaceful burial ceremony, you remember when i helped Senator Wetang’ula in Kakamega,….” he said.
That is when the hell broke out and people started shouting at him asking him to change the topic.
He was left dumbfounded and couldn’t believe his ears, he stood silent for almost three minutes as the heckling picked momentum’s.
“Helloo, mnataka nizungumze,” the crowd chanted hapana, leaving him mesmerized,”.
After the crowd denying him a chance to speak, he was forced to invite Council of governors Chairman who is also the Kakamega governor to make his speech.
Oparanya was also briefly heckled when he tried convincing the mourners to BBI because it will increase the county funds from 15% to 35%.
He lamented how the treasury had delayed in releasing cash to counties hence paralysing operations.
“Counties haven’t received money to run its operations, we need money, counties can’t operate without money,” said Oparanya.
