Brothers fight over Sh40 turns tragic as one is killed in Mt Elgon

Tension has engulfed Toboo village, Kaboywo location, in Kaptama ward, Mt Elgon constituency after two brothers fighting over Sh40 led to one killing the other one.

A youthful man identified as Elias was killed by his brother as they were arguing over money on December 3.
Confirming the incident Kaboywo location Chief Moses Sakong pointed out the the deceased was hacked to death while fighting over cash.
“They were fighting over Sh40 when one of them hacked the other one using a machete, it is sad that we have lost him,” he said.
He said that the two brothers might have been fighting over the cash that they would have used to buy local traditional brew known as Busaa.
“Police officers are investigating the incident and will soon release a report on what transpired during the fracas that led to one dying,” he said.

The administerator called on family members to handle issues in a professional way to avoid such incidences.
He said that the culprit was arrested has he tried to flee from the scene of attack.
“The culprit is in safe custody at Kaptama police station, he will be arraigned in court once police officers are through with investigations,” he said.
Sakong said that such incidences have taken place before in Sambocho and Kipsigon villages in the past.
He advised Boda boda riders to take care of their lives during this festive season by driving carefully to avoid accidents.
“Already we are in the festive mood, let the riders be careful while driving their machines, we don’t want to see lives being lost again,” he said.

The deceased body was taken to Webuye sub county hospital mortuary.
