Covid-19 kill three People in Bungoma -Health Official

As the global pandemic Covid-19 continues to cause havoc and fear in the country, deaths are also increasingly being reported.

Health officials in Bungoma county have reported three people succumbing to coronavirus in the last three days.
According to the County public health director Moses Wambusi, the trio died in different hospitals after contracting the disease.

Addressing the press in Bungoma town, Wambusi stated that all the deceased persons are male above 50 years.
“A teacher from Bumula sub county had been admitted at LifeCare hospital while another man from Sirisia sub county was admitted at Bungoma West hospital, he was discharged but later the same symptoms recurred and was rushed to LifeCare hospital where he passed on,” confirmed Wambusi.

He also confirmed that another male person from Kamtiong’i in Mt Elgon was admitted in Kimilili sub county hospital but later died and it is confirmed he was a victim of Covid-19.
David Wambete Psirmoi alias Kiara was a long time Curriculum Support Officer (CSO) based in Mt Elgon Constituency.
Wambusi confirmed that 87 students at Friend’s School Kamusinga in Kimilili Sub county have been tested of Corona and they are waiting for their results from Kemri laboratories in Eldoret.

This comes a few days after one KCSE candidate tested positive of the virus and is admitted at Webuye County hospital isolation centre.
“We have tested them to see if they are infected or not so that we can see which steps to take, the school has over 400 KCSE candidates who are set to sit for their exams in March 2021,” he said.
Wambusi added, “Our officers have been dispatched to the learning institution and will monitor students, teachers and other workers and will also fumigate all the buildings to rid it of the virus.
Two weeks ago, the county health and sanitation executive Dr.Antony Walela reported of 118 inmates at Bungoma GK prison contracting the virus.
“Majority of them have been isolated in a different room and are being monitored by our officers to stop them from infecting other prisoners,” he said.

Bungoma governor Wycliffe Wangamati last week publicly came out and announced that the health officials had given him a clean bill of health to mingle with members of the public after he reportedly self isolated himself after the rumours of contracting the virus.
The governor’s press unit reported that other two members of his executive were also admitted at Bungoma county referral hospital ICU section after contracting the disease
