A renowned tycoon and politician Moses Wanjala Nandalwe has declared his interest to vie for Bungoma County ODM party Chairmanship.
The 33 year’s old former University student leader confirmed that he will battle it out with the current Chairman who is also the MCA Maraka ward in Webuye Ali Machani Mutoka alias Balala.
The ODM County leadership elections is set to be held in November 2020.
Nandalwe a one time aide of the Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli called on his supporters to support his bid so that he can revive the ones vibrant party in the county.
“I held consultation with the party National Executive Council, Bungoma branch party officials and delegates and they agreed that he is the potential candidate for county Chairmanship,” he said.
Nandalwe who is also the Kenya’s Aliko Dangote reiterated that ODM had lost its grip in Bungoma owing to weak leadership and its time an energetic young man should be elected to steer it to the right path and ensure that they win majority electable seats in 2022.
The Bungoma’s Mr.Money Bag unsuccessfully vied for the Sirisia seat on ODM in 2017 but was defeated by the incumbent John Waluke of Jubilee party.
Nandalwe stated that he arrived at the decision after realizing that the party had lost its popularity and hence it need a fresh start.
“I will make the party popular not only to aspirants but also to the electorates across the county through numerous consultative forums,” he said.
The Nandalwe Foundation CEO pointed out that he will engage the party delegates to help him in overseeing the party activities and in decision making for the progress of the party in the county.
“I am planning a series of meetings with party delegates at the grass root level in all the 9 constituencies as from this month,” he stated.
Nandalwe added, “Am ready to motivate future aspirants to vie for different political seats through the party’s ticket because of his charistimatic leadership to revamp the party,”.
On his part, Balala asked Nandalwe to follow the party structures before making any other decralations.
“He should start at the ward level, move to the constituency before plunging into the county leadership, it is his democratic right to vie for any seat but he should first follow the party structure,” said Balala.
Bungoma county has 280 ODM delegates and they will play part in electing their officials based on their manifestos and how they are going to grow the party.
