120 families affected by floods in Kimilili get building materials, foodstuffs

Kimilili residents affected by floods have  something to smile about after the area Mp constructed for them other houses, distributed foodstuffs.

Speaking during the distribution of Foodstuffs to 15 families affected by floods at Mwangale primary School in Kamukuywa ward, Kimilili Mp Didmus Barasa called on the government to intervene and help all people affected by floods.
“The government released foodstuffs to the affected families through the ministry of devolution, it is unfortunate that Kimilili constituency is yet to receive it, am demanding for the appropriated foodstuffs meant for the affected people in my constituency,” said Barasa.

He said the government had pledged food for 8,940 people in Kimilili constituency but unfortunately the same foodstuffs is not yet to reach the targeted families.
“The foodstuffs meant for my people was well packed destined for Kimilili but it is not yet to reach my constituency,  I want to know where it disappeared to,” he said.
So far 120 families have been affected by floods in Kimilili constituency and is in dire need of assistance. 

The MP said that he has distributed foodstuffs at Namakhele, Sulwe and Mwangale primary school and will continue monitoring the program.
He pledged to fund the affected families with Sh15,000 each so that they can carry on with businesses of their own choice once the rains subsidises.
He pointed out that he was engaging the Geogolist so that he can determine the level of water on the ground that is affecting families.
“From his recommendations we can now sink boreholes to ensure that water doesn’t affect them any more,” he said.
The legislator has further build 87 families iron sheets houses after their houses were destroyed by floods.

Visiting Bahai village in Kimilili ward where several families were affected by floods that destroyed their houses, Barasa stated that he will construct afresh all houses after they have been identified.
“I will stand with my people, that’s why they elected me to represent them, I shall stand with them at all times, am their servant and they are my bosses,” he said.
