A moment of renewed hope smeared the life of a widow from Matulo in Webuye after a  well wisher built her a new house after the ongoing heavy rains destroyed it rendering her homeless.
Grace Khaemba (72) was filled with joy and gratitude as Webuye business man Steve Kaiser offered her a new roof on her head.

“I am grateful for coming to my rescue when the heavy rains had just declared my fate. I will have an opportunity to sleep sound again,” said Mama Grace who lost her husband in 2015.
She continued “As a widow I was about to give up only for this samaritan to show up. Indeed God is the husband of the widows,”.
With tears of joy rolling down her cheeks, Mama Grace was elated with the kind gesture of the visitors who came calling when she little expected them.

The area Chief Chief Misiko Barasa was present.
He said that the widow approached her after the tragedy prompting him to get out of his way to look for a well wisher.
He thanked the businessman for his generosity and compassion.
Mr Misiko urged residents settled in the low areas near the river to shift to safe places to avoid damages.

Families living along river Nzoia have been heavily affected by the floods.
Kaiser said that he decided to construct the widow a mother house after the old one was badly damaged by the raging floods.
“She is the age of my mother and I felt bad when I saw her sleeping in the cold as a result of the raging floods which partly swept her old house,” said Kaiser.
