Rotary Club distributes hand-washing jerrycans in Bungoma to help Combat Covid-19

Rotary club international has distributed hand washing jerricans in Bungoma county with an aim of helping combat the spread of the corona virus, this is after Bungoma county confirmed two corona virus patients who are now isolated at Webuye Isolation center.

The patients are truck drivers who were travelling to Uganda from Mombasa.

Peter Mudanya President Rotary Club Bungoma Magharibi says the club through its Covid-19 emergency response team is on the watch out to make sure that they help in battling the corona virus pandemic.

He said Bungoma County should be mapped as the high risk areas of contracting the covid-19 because of the Kanduyi-Malaba highway, calling on Governor Wangamati to set up a screening tests for all truck and matatu drivers.

‘’I congratulate Bungoma governor for setting up screening points but I urge him to add more so that our county is safe from the corona virus.’’ He said.

However, he said that Rotary club partner with other organizations to help in providing residents displaced by floods in high risk areas, calling on people living in high risk areas to migrate to safer grounds to protect lose of lives and properties.

‘’ Bungoma should be mapped as high risk flood county, because for the past three days floods have affected most operations and displaced people in some areas within the county.’’ He said.

His sentiments were echoed by Pro. Nyukuri Barasa patron business community Chebukube market who is one of the beneficiary with the hand washing jerry cans who said that Chebukube did not have any hand washing jerry calling on other well-wishers to come on board and provide more jerry cans and washing soaps.
